The Portuguese international, Bernardo Silva, had to leave the field early during the match against Red Star Belgrade. This adds to Pep Guardiola’s growing list of absent players.
Following Tuesday’s European opener at the Etihad Stadium, City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that he expects Silva to be unavailable for the « upcoming matches » due to an unspecified injury. This comes as Manchester City is set to host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this Saturday afternoon.
“He [Silva] didn’t say anything at the end,” Guardiola told reporters. “I didn’t speak with the doctors but apparently for the next games he won’t be able to play.”
Guardiola has also been missing England defender John Stones since the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley in August. Additionally, midfield duo Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic have recently been sidelined.
