After more than two years of absence due to a sexual assault case, left-back Benjamin Mendy is demanding his wages from Manchester City.
Benjamin Mendy was acquitted of charges of rape, attempted rape, and assault brought by seven women between October 2018 and August 2021 in the Chester court. Now, the financial aspect comes into play. According to Skysports, the French footballer has filed a complaint claiming « several million pounds » against Manchester City for unpaid wages, a claim confirmed by the player’s legal representative.
As a reminder, Benjamin Mendy earned a salary of around €400,000 per month when he played for the Sky Blues. Last August, the player’s legal team had already approached Manchester City to seek payment for his unpaid wages, then claiming around €11.5 million.
« Nick De Marco KC (instructed by Laffer Abogados (Madrid)) represents former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy in a claim for several million pounds for unauthorized salary deductions. Manchester City FC has not paid Mr. Mendy a salary from September 2021, following Mr. Mendy’s charge for various offenses for which he was subsequently acquitted, until the end of his contract in June 2023. The claim will be submitted to an employment tribunal. »
