Thierry Henry admits to having been depressed throughout his career

Thierry Henry, World Cup champion, entertainer on Amazon Prime, and television personality in the UK. Now, he’s also the coach of the French U21 team.

However, the globally known player confesses to having been depressed throughout his playing career, and even before that.

« Throughout my career, I’ve been in depression. To understand this, you have to go back to when I was young. To my childhood, where I didn’t have affection… when my father held me in his arms, the first thing he said was, ‘This baby will be an incredible football player.' »

« He shaped me, he was tough. At 13, I play and win a match 6-0. I score all 6 goals, but… it was always about what I didn’t do. I always had the fear and the feeling of pleasing others through my football, my money, until the day my girlfriend and my children started crying for the person I am. And then you feel human. »
