Chelsea, under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, made numerous signings during the recent summer transfer window. The Argentine coach is urging patience with the new recruits.

Chelsea continues to make both sales and purchases, with another busy transfer window resulting in several new, often young, players joining the club. Pochettino emphasizes the need to be patient with these players: « We now have a very young team, players who are good investments for the club. We need to understand that they are young and must adapt to the circumstances and remain calm. It’s not fair to evaluate their performance after one match, two matches, or three matches. »

To illustrate his point, Pochettino referred to the case of Zinedine Zidane, who arrived at Real Madrid quietly but eventually became a legend: « I always use the same example: Real Madrid paid 70 or 80 million for a player named Zinedine Zidane. He was an incredible player, but after six months, you could ask the fans at the Bernabeu, and they would say, ‘oh, what have we bought?’ He began to adapt after seven or eight months. »

Pochettino emphasized the importance of being cautious when purchasing younger players, typically around 20 or 21 years old: « They are not machines. They must accept all the circumstances that have occurred over the past few months. We need to give them time. »
