Manchester United is gearing up to compete with Real Madrid for the acquisition of Japanese winger Takefusa Kubo.
The 22-year-old player has shone in La Liga this season, scoring five goals and providing an assist in his first eight matches for Real Sociedad.
Kubo has attracted the attention of several European giants, with Manchester United being the latest club linked to his signature.
Erik ten Hag is looking to recruit a new winger following a recent dispute with Jadon Sancho, with both players having a public spat last month. Sancho is expected to be sold by Manchester United in the upcoming winter transfer window, and Kubo is seen as the ideal replacement by United’s manager.
Real Madrid initially signed Kubo in 2019 but subsequently loaned him out for multiple seasons before selling him to Real Sociedad last summer.
