Julian Draxler has been transferred from PSG to Al Ahli SC in Qatar, and he admits it’s a financial choice.
After seven years at PSG, Julian Draxler is bidding farewell to top-level football and heading to Qatar. He readily admits that this choice is purely financial. « I could say that after 12 years in Europe, all that matters to me is experiencing a new culture, living a new international experience, being part of a project in the Arab world, and ignoring the topic of money. Although these aspects are honestly true, I would be lying if I said that the financial aspect wasn’t also crucial in this decision, » the 30-year-old player explained.
« In the end, I came to the conclusion that this new financial environment offers me even more options, both for my family and for other projects outside the field, » he told Sport Bild.
Julian Draxler was earning approximately 5 million euros per season at PSG, so the salary in Qatar is likely much higher.
