Former PSG and Barcelona player Dani Alves has received his sentence.
Dani Alves will remain in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault on a young woman in the bathrooms of a Barcelona nightclub on December 30, 2022. The former full-back for PSG or FC Barcelona was sentenced this Thursday to a prison term of 4 and a half years by the Barcelona court.
The prosecution had requested a 9-year incarceration, while the victim had sought 12 years. To safeguard him, an anti-suicide protocol was implemented due to his psychological state while in detention.
Additionally, Dani Alves has been ordered to pay compensation to the victim amounting to 150,000 euros. Furthermore, he has been issued a restraining order for 9 years and 5 years of supervised release.
In announcing the sentence, the court determined that the victim’s consent was not obtained. Both parties have the option to appeal the verdict.
